My Brother Simple

A crowdpleaser with its heart in the right place.
The Hollywood Reporter

Based on a novel by world-famous French writer Marie-Aude Murail this touching and entertaining buddy-road-movie stars two of Germany’s most talented young actors, Frederick Lau (one-take art house hit Victoria, 2015) and David Kross (The Reader, 2008).

For as long as he can remember, Ben and his mentally handicapped brother Barnabas, nicknamed “Simple”, have been thick as thieves. When their mother unexpectedly dies on the family’s rural farmstead, the custody of Simple falls to a home. Ben cannot accept this decision, but since he has no legal authority over Simple, his only option is to travel to the big city to find their father they last saw 15 years ago. A crazy odyssey begins...
