THE UPCOMING

No actors, no script, no fake emotions. Screening at the 2019 Berlin International Film Festival as part of “Perspektive Deutsches Kino”, a sidebar dedicated to upcoming German filmmakers, Easy Love is the experimental fiction debut of Tamer Jandali. It follows seven men and women aged between 25 and 45 from Cologne on their search for a balance between emotional security and sensual fulfilment. United by themes of sexual frustrations and unrequited attractions, Jandali accompanies these adults, exploring the details of their romantic and sexual misadventures within the context of their individual lives.

This semi-controlled study of contemporary urban adult living is a unique and engrossing documentary-meets-fiction piece that gradually invites audience members to become active observers rather than passive viewers. As a result, it brings to light our own questions of what is “right” and “wrong” in the volatile realm of love.

Please note the film screens in German with English subtitles.
